For Professionals and Students on March 19, 2010
On Friday March 19, 2010 the Gulf Coast Resilient Home Building Conference is offering a continuing education course for residential building professionals. Instructors from the Gulf Coast Community Design Studio will cover construction of a disaster-resilient home. The course will focus specifically on the fundamentals of resilience and materials and techniques that improve a structure's capacity to withstand high winds and water.

Course Description.
Building professionals of all kinds are encouraged to register and participate in the continuing education course - builders, architects, real estate agents, general contractors, code inspectors, materials vendors, etc. - as are teachers and students in related fields. Licenses are not a prerequisite for participation in the course.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be available specifically for:
- Home builders registered with the Mississippi Housing Institute’s Certified Professional Builder Program (6 credits);
- Architects through the American Institute of Architects (3 credits; will require retroactive self-reporting); and
- Real estate agents licensed with the Mississippi Real Estate Commission (6 credits).
There is a registration fee of $50 for building professionals (whether seeking CEUs or not) and $25 for high school or college students (must present a valid student ID at sign-in).

For Homeowners on March 20 and 21, 2010
On Saturday March 20 and Sunday March 21, 2010, the Resilient Home Building Conference will offer public education sessions throughout the day, concurrent with the Home Builders Association of the Mississippi Coast Home & Garden Show. Home & Garden Show attendees that have paid the $7.00 entrance fee are welcome to participate in the conference education sessions witih no additional charge.
